When I looked at the various versions of MS Office I wondered what the differences were in content that warrented the price differences. Now I know. Look at the fine print and determine what you need to buy. I should have purchased the version that allows me to script Entourage.Customer Review: Not intended for serious use

If you plan to draft simple Word documents and spreadsheets, then I suppose this version of Office will be suitable for you. That being said, it is a pathetic attempt at making Microsoft Office software useful on the Mac. Aside from the overall lack of features in comparison to the Windows version, I've experienced Word and Excel crashing over and over for no particular reason. My biggest gripe, however, is the lack of compatibility. While there are compatibility features built right into this software, they never seem to work correctly. I often open Word documents that show up 2 pages longer on Office 2007 than they do on this version. Many Excel documents that I create on Office 2007 do not even open on this version!
Summary: If you are used to Office on Windows PCs, don't expect to accomplish the same tasks with this on your Mac. And don't expect to easily start a project at work, save it, and bring it home to work on, because you'll definitely run into trouble.
Solution: Run Windows on your Mac (Bootcamp, VMWare Fusion, Parallels, etc.), and install the real Microsoft Office.

Office for Mac is easy to install and runs on the Mac just like Microsoft Office runs on my PC. My kids are in 7th grade and lots of homework is uploaded to their school's server to be reviewed by teachers. We purchased a new Mac over the summer and were frustrated that the school's system will only accept files saved in a Microsoft format. Microsoft to Mac was a necessity for us. My only complaint is that you have to go to the applications menu and pull the new apps to the dashboard for each user account - it only loaded onto the dashboard for the administrator account.Customer Review: Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Home & Student Edition
