Software Reviews of Microsoft OneNote 2003 [Old Version]

Customer Review: Like taking notes on paper - without the paper!
Summary: 4 Stars

No matter what electronic gadget or program I've tried for writing, tracking, and organizing notes...I've always ended up going back to paper. I like the freedom of "jotting" things down, circling, drawing lines, checking things off, flipping from page to page, etc. At the recommendation of a friend I purchased OneNote and right after installing started using it to plan an event. For the first time I was able to do all the things I loved about "paper" notes with the stability and proficiency of a Microsoft program! It interfaces with all my Office 2003 programs. I can draw my circles and lines...add my check off boxes as well as other designations. It even prints off my "to do" list for me from all of my note pages! My daughter can use it for her school work and was able to pick it up easily. I can foresee many uses for OneNote both professionally and personally.

Customer Review: A must-have for Tablet PC
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have a Tablet PC, buy it. It worths every penny. This product integrates all possible ways of taking notes in one place. Typing, writing, recording, video recording, all you can think of for taking a notes, your can find it here. The product tour comes with the installation is really helpful. After the product tour demo, I starts to use it immediately. The multilingual support for title recognition is a great feature too.

If you don't use Tablet PC, you can still benefit from OneNotes, but it won't be as useful as the one running on Tablet PC.

One thing for Microsoft: Many of the Office family (such as Word and PowerPoint) have a free "viewer" for those who don't have the full version of the software. Is it possible to have a free OneNotes viewer? It will be very helpful to promote the product, and for us to share our notes.

Customer Review: Not for me.
Summary: 2 Stars

I have this on my computer and tried using it once to take notes, and it failed miseralbly. I tried to take notes on a film I was watching for a Phil. class and it was annoying to use. I'm not the type that will take notes with my laptop (since it's not a fancy tabletpc), so I didnt find Onenote useful. I'm sure if I were cutting and pasting notes to prepare quotes for an essay, it would've been easier (and more helpful.)

Customer Review: Great compliment to MS Office
Summary: 5 Stars

Easy to use. Great utiliy. Probably better with a tablet PC, but works great with a standard laptop and Office 2003. Eliminates all of those half-scribbled on legal pads.

Customer Review: Cant beat free!
Summary: 5 Stars

In the fall of 2004 Microsoft had a van located at my school. They were giving out this program, I thought it was just some worthless trial, but no I got the entire program!
