Software Reviews of Microsoft Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade Pack with SP1 [Home Premium to Ultimate]Customer Review: 64-Bit Users buy carefully Summary: 1 StarsI have 64-bit Windows, BUT this disk is 32-bit. The disk-swap website specified in the packaging does not give you the option to buy the 64 bit disk.
Customer Review: Worked Great Summary: 5 StarsI purchased this upgrade to add the Portuguese language pack to a laptop purchased at Best Buy. It did the trick.
Customer Review: like Skidz found out the hard way but no MS person Summary: 1 StarsLike Skidz found out after order (and paying for one day shipping) that the dvd you get isn't for the 64 bit version. Inside is a nice little note from Microsoft that you can go to their web site and order a 64 bit version. It only wanted to let me order a 32 bit version just like Skidz . I tried but could not get hold of anyone at MS. I returned it to Amazon for a refund. I consider this deceptive sales practices on Microsoft's part, surprised that Amazon is selling it.
Customer Review: Boo Amazon Summary: 1 StarsMicrosoft is bad on this one, but Amazon continues to be silent on the product page regarding the 64 bit SNAFU. Read below and you will see that if you order this for a 64 bit system, you will have to go to Microsoft for an additional disk containing the 64-bit media. There are also various horror stories below, many of which have matched my experience, of the fun time people are having getting the disk out of Microsoft. (Why do I not read these reviews until after the purchase?)
I suggest that Amazon add an explanation of the extra trouble 64-bit users will face with this product. The big villain in this is Microsoft, but learning about the extra media requirement with no advance warning in the product description is galling.
Customer Review: Need Domain Access??? Summary: 3 StarsEh... nothing exciting about a Desktop interface that is sold as an operating system. You get what you pay for... Or, you don't get what you need, so you're going to pay for it. Networking in this day and age is mostly essential.
So, if you're not on a Windows Domain, you don't need this.
If your on a Windows Domain, it works fine with a Win03 SBS server. The user complains because it doesn't look like XP. Eh!?!?!?
Still it's somehow reminiscent of the days of WindowsNT server and a Windows95 client.
M$ has never done well in this area.
You bought it, you deal with it.
I'll be happy a soon as Vista is just gone, and M$ uses Linux as the OS for their servers and clients. Then they can go back to making a desktop. (for a real OS.( (;-))
