Software Reviews of Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1 [OLD VERSION]

Customer Review: Unable to install
Summary: 4 Stars

I was unable to complete installation due to inadequate room on my hard drive. The only reason I'm giving it such a high review is that it has been well received by other people I know who have been able to install theirs, and I will continue to hold onto it until I get an upgrade on my own pc.

Customer Review: Most computers will run slower with this upgrade
Summary: 5 Stars

There are many pros and cons to Microsoft Vista. If you are buying a new computer, then Vista is a good option. The computer manufacturer will have installed Vista, with all of the correct drivers. The modern computer will also likely be fast enough to run Vista. However, if you are looking at buying this product, then you are likely installing Vista on an existing computer.

I installed Vista on a Dell with Intel hyper threading. This computer now runs about 80% as fast as it did before. I needed to perform screen shots with Microsoft's latest, so this was a good upgrade for me. However, for most computers, that are already running just fine, I do not see why Vista really adds that is worth the performance sacrifice that it will likely exact from older hardware.

Vista does have many features beyond what XP provides. The screens are much cleaner and visually appealing. Security is improved. Though you will frequently get security pop-up's asking if its okay to do something. The improvements to Vista, for the vast majority of users, are mostly cosmetic. It may not be worth the hassle of finding drivers and slowing down your computer just to run Vista.

Customer Review: awesome when it works but makes me throw things when it crashes
Summary: 4 Stars

I installed it on two machines. One of them it runs perfectly on but the other one gives me the blue screen of death and crashes at least once a day. I was blown away by the features and beauty that is vista ultimate, just hope the next service pack fixes my problems :)

Customer Review: Best
Summary: 5 Stars

Just bought this for my new system and I just love it. It's not good if you have a older computer.

Customer Review: Windows Vista SP1 - A Program that can drive a Person to the Point of Insanity
Summary: 1 Stars

After purchasing Windows Vista Business and Windows Vista Ultimate 1 1/2 years ago, I waited month after month for the so-called Windows Vista SP1 version to "automatically" update itself. According to Microsoft this is the best, safest and most recommended way to UPDATE to SP1.

MISSION FINALLY ACCOMPLISHED!

Now, to my DISBELIEF, I can NO LONGER open two Excel files in their own separate Windows, in order to work on both files at the same time. I spent hours trying to find and understand how to go about solving this problem. I found a few simple solutions to solve this problem and NONE OF THEM WORKED! After 8 agonizing hours I finally figured out how to solve this problem. I can hardly wait to see wait lies ahead.

This is what I HATE about Windows Vista most. It's a program that drives people like me to the point of insanity because NOTHING IS EVER SIMPLE when it should and could be. In the old days we would simply open 2 windows and be done with it; problems back then could be solved by intuitive commonsense. I Thank God everyday that the light switches in my home aren't made by the Windows Vista people.
