Unfortunately the tech tools I use professionally do not run natively under Linux and virtual box takes too big an overhead, so I had to bite the bullet and buy a license for the new computer that replaces the old, dead PC I was using.
Everyone knows about the instability issues of Windows and its extensive use as a petri dish for viruses, worms and other troyen, so I will not develop further the matter here. I put two stars and not just one because when running on its own, this version of Windows (and this version only!) is pretty stable.
But you better not need help from the tech support (I can do that myself, thank you) or worse the licensing sharks.
For some reason it appears that if you intend to use this OS in Central America it HAS to be in Spanish (forget about Portuguese or French, by the way) and a valid English version honestly bought in the US cannot be installed on a computer over here no matter what.
So now I boot my main computer on its Windows partition only when I need to use the tools that specifically need it; both my servers run linux: Ubuntu since I never wanted to waste time learning Linux the hard way and Ubuntu is much easier to use than Windows, on a par with Mac OS X (also a Unix btw) and with the very, very big advantage that not only it is free, they will send you the installation CDs to your address for no fee at all.
Ubuntu also recognizes all the hardware of all four different laptops I have, which is better than Windows.
In a world without wall or fences, who needs windows or gates?

Win SP Pro SP2 is the classic Win OS in use to avoid Vista issues. I'm using this OS to utilize an application that is not available in Mac Snow Leopard. I had a hard time installing Win XP Pro using Bootcamp. Installation information for Win XP Pro using Bootcamp is not sufficiently current for the Win XP Pro version that I was able to purchase via Amazon.com. The vendor was not able to provide technical assistance and Apple's position was that my problems were Microsoft problems. Microsoft was willing to offer support for $60/Hr. I was able to install this OS by disregarding the instructions and cautions in the advice for installation available online. I wouldn't attempt this againCustomer Review: best windows program ever

Microsoft windows xp - xp pro is the most user friendly windows program ever made and does not take much skill to work. This product works beautifully and is easy to install and the product key is non used so when you buy it you are getting a brand new program not copied at all. Windows xp - xp pro will work on any pc down to 500 mhz to current but you will have to have at least 128mb ram recommended 512mb ram to run smooth. Mine worked beautifully and installed with the product key and passed the online test. I liked it so much I bought 2 and both work great.Customer Review: Showed up on time and works great

It showed up on time and works great! Everything runs fine on my computer. You really need to do research on computer product before you buy them online. Or you buy the price like some of these other people on here.
